What is Ronin Kenjutsu

Picture
This style of Kenjutsu is not a comprehensive study of Budo 武道 (Martial Way) but its focus is simple: 1. Teach people how to use a samurai's katana in a safe effect way so that they can defend themselves if needed 2. Help other martial artist by giving them the basic tools for understanding the Katana and how to use it. 3. Support the back yard samurai that have an interest in swords by formalizing their training and giving them the basic knowledge of the Katana so that they will better enjoy their sword.

Kenjutsu is offered as a separate course and is split into 4 levels:
Introduction,
Intermediate,
Advanced and;
Instructor.  Each level is 10 to 12 hours in length and can be accomplished in an intense weekend training session or over the course of 6 weeks.
The Ronin Kenjutsu method of Japanese Swordsmanship will enable you to become skilled with your Katana quickly and safely.  In the end, YOU will be the instructor and have the ability to teach your own students.  This course is all about empowering you.
This is not to say that you will be a master of the sword so quickly, rather you will have the skill to teach others how to be proficient in using a Katana.  Like most all other weapons, basic skills come fast but mastery happens over a lifetime.

Training with Sensei James Williams. Many of my thoughts and techniques that I teach originated from studying this Sword Master

Kyoshi Kevin Blok, a long time mentor and the first person to teach me how to hold a sword. I owe him much.
